Tex and a new pond

I (Abigail) was so fascinated by Mama's new pond that I decided to make a mini one in my garden!

Tex is back! We're keeping him again for eighteen days while his 'parents' are in Rome!

Broken Bone

The day at the lake (below) was fun, but it ended on a sad note: as we got ready to leave, the boys started a game of basketball. Jack tried to jump for the ball, but tripped and fell, fracturing the growth plate area of his arm. This is at the end of the bone near his elbow! At first, we didn't know that it was broken because his arm was completely mobile, but Sunday it got steadily worse and Monday he went for x-rays and got a cast. The doctors don't think he needs surgery, but he'll be going back in a few days so that they can be sure. The cast will stay on for three to six weeks! He is the first of the kids to have a broken bone. (Is that an accomplishment?)

Day at the Lake

Saturday we went to our friends lake-house. Most of us spent our time trying to learn to water-ski, and we discovered it's harder than it looks!! Here's some pictures of the day.
Abigail is ready to go.
It was a beautiful day. The water was nice and warm.
Abigail skied the longest of all of us kids.
Jesse also got up for a while.
The day ended with a beautiful sunset.
(This picture should be on a jigsaw puzzle!)

Late post

This post is very late. Just imagine that you are reading this last Wednsday and then things won't be so late. Last Tuesday, our friends the DeLaduranteys came to visit. Here are pictures of the visit. Corrine and Abigail were quickly best friends! She is enjoying the harmonica.
Corrine and her Dad Nathan.
Corrine, her brother Winston, her mom Jeanine, and our Mom.
That day the tempature soared to 100 degrees!! Thank goodness for A/C!

News

'Round the fire: Nathan, Chris, Sam and Jack
What a blaze! It has been hot and dry for a fire, but we wanted to get rid of a brush pile that has been sitting for weeks.
Jesse and Daddy finished the pool deck by adding a railing and stairs.
This is Jesse slaving on the deck while an Unidentified Floating Human (far left) lazes in the pool!
Well, besides this, the only news is that we all have been (or still are) sick. Just a nasty little virus, but enough to keep us a little down. We celebrated Father's Day last night with fried chicken, mashed potatoes, butter beans and bread. We topped it off with peach cobbler and ice cream and not many of us were interested in eating much this morning!
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!!!!!

Mama's pond project pictures (ppp)!

The rubber liner was a tad too big!
So Mama had to trim it.
Half of the time she was in the water!
She laid the stones and surounded them with dirt and monkey grass.
Now it has fish and plants!

The lighting in this last picture is not very good, so we'll have more pics later!

Fish and boats!!

We got the first five fish today for Mama's pond in her garden. There is supposed to be eight and we are planning to get the last three on Monday.
Daddy, Jesse, Abigail and Samuel went to a course today about boating safety. The course was taught by three men from the Auxiliary Coast Guard and a Marine police officer. After the course was a test and they all passed it, earning their boaters' licenses!
