New Sod pics

Well, it took me long enough. Finally here are the pictures of the 'laying-of-the-sod' event. The Easter pictures are still on the camera along with pictures of the what the sod looks like now. I'll post those later...

"Now, after a few minor incidents not worth mentioning (such as hitting the gas line!)"

That statement makes me want to hear the whole story! Maybe I'll make it to AL sometime and can hear the story and play a game of football on the new sod.

I thought someone would pick up on that story! Hey, Joshua! We would love to see you guys down here again, but in the meantime I can give you an overview of the story.
The rule is that you are supposed to call the gas and electric company before doing any major digging. Well, no one said anything about rototillers, but it turns out that sometimes, in older houses, the gas line leading to the house is the same one put in when the house was built! The one Daddy hit was made of a thin, flexible, tube about 1 1/2 feet below the ground. When he started smelling gas and saw the hissing pipe he ran in the house, got us all out and called 911. After that there was basically a long string of gas company men who looked at the pipe, made a call on their cell phones and began to explain how rare this occasion really was while waiting for the next team to show up! They did stop the leak though, and by later that afternoon, the pipe was fixed and Daddy was warned to stay away from the area with the rototiller. The men did tell him that even if he had called they probably couldn't have found the record of the old pipe anyway. It's always invigorating to be rushed out of the house early in the morning because of a gas leak and the possibility that the house might blow up!
